BISHOP, Donald Norman – 1940 – 2023
After a long courageous battle with cancer, Don departed this life on March 21st, 2023 to reunite with his fur baby Buddy at the Rainbow Bridge. Left to mourn is his loving wife Mary Anne, his 3 sons, Randy (Tabitha), Sean (Kelly), and Jeff (Nicole). His sister Grace (Ted) Prokopetz and all of their families. Predeceased by his parents Bruce and Edna. Don worked at General Motors as a supervisor in the foundry, retiring in 1992. He volunteered with Cogeco TV as a cameraman for many years, then volunteered with the Welland Junior B Hockey Club. He was a faithful fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. He loved puttering in the yard and always had a pocketful of treats for the neighborhood dogs as he was a true animal lover. We would like to thank St. Elizabeth’s and their hospice team, Dr. Dooler, Dr. Carle, Don’s nurse Jade, for enabling him to remain at home until the end. A very special thank you to Al Wilson for his compassion, care and friendship throughout this long, hard journey. Don cherished the bond you had with each other and thought of you as a brother. To our friends in the neighbourhood we thank you for your love and support. You are the best.
Following Don’s wishes, a private burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Niagara or the Welland Humane Society. Online condolences available at www.cudneyfuneralhome.com.
