Donald “Donnie” Geikie
May 5, 1937 — April 14, 2023
Donald “Donnie” James Geikie, of Newcastle, passed away peacefully, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, with his family by his side, on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the age of 85.
Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Bert and Ruth (Perley) Geikie. He worked as a millwright at REPAP pulp mill and retired after 42 years.
Donnie loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and spending time at the camp with his friends and family.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Rosalind (Cass) Geikie of Miramichi; four sons Duane (Kim) of Miramichi, Bradley of Fort MacMurray, Bruce of South Esk, and Burton of Fort MacMurray; three grandchildren Joshua, Rebecca, and Rachel; and a great grandchild on the way.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 1 pm to 1:45 pm. The funeral service will take place at 2 pm, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Geza Szemok officiating. Interment will take place in the Miramichi Cemetery at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Extra Mural Program or to the Palliative Care Unit.
