Obituary For Deborah Jean Dievert
May 20, 1951 – February 11, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Deborah Jean Dievert. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 11, 2023 at the age of 71.
Debbie was born in Drumheller, Alberta, on May 20, 1951. She resided in Drumheller until 1957, when her mom, Jean Gunby, loaded up her car with all three daughters and headed north to Debolt, Alberta. She attended Ridgevalley School, where she excelled at making friends, competitive curling, and capturing the heart of a young Allan Dievert. Debbie and Allan started their family shortly after their wedding; welcoming Connie in 1969, Todd in 1971, and Deana in 1975.
Debbie loved people. In 1995, Debbie and Allan sold their business in Debolt and moved into Grande Prairie. Once settled, Debbie put to use her impeccable people skills in her job at Zellers. She worked there for numerous years and loved the job and the people she worked with.
Debbie had many passions. She loved to garden, cook, go camping, winter at their Arizona home, and anything that involved her grandchildren. She was their biggest supporter and number one fan.
She will be forever missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Allan Dievert, her children; Connie (Dave) Gourlay of Valleyview, Todd (Natalie) Dievert of DeWinton, and Deana (Dave) Marth of Wembley; Cherished grandchildren Brittany Desgagne, Alexandra McEwen, Parker Gourlay, Hailey and Amber Marth, Jayce, Quinn, and Teale Dievert; great-granddaughters; Raelynn and Rosie McEwen, Camilla and Vera Desgagne, and Rhiannon Gourlay. Treasured sisters Beanie Chapman, Holly Flaherty, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Debbie was predeceased by her parents, Jerry and Jean Gunby, her sister Glenna Venning, and her brother Bob Gunby.
The family would like to offer endless thanks to the caring medical providers Dr. Michael Kolinsky, Dr. Jacolette Hattingh, and Dr. Alexandra Noga who showed our mom nothing but kindness and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bear Creek Funeral Home 11802 99 Avenue Grande Prairie on Saturday, February 18 at 1pm.
If so desired, memorial donations can be made to the Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society, #204 10134 97 Avenue Grande Prairie AB T8V 7X5
