In Loving Memory of David M. Miller
1959 – 2023
David Michael Miller, husband of Jane (Savoy-Russell) Miller of Edmonton, AB, passed away suddenly on June 1, 2023, at the age of 64.
Born in Moncton, NB, on March 21, 1959, he was the son of Jean (Greene) Miller and the late Mike Miller. In his youth, David was a competitive swimmer and a contender for the 1980 boycotted Olympics. He enlisted in the armed forces as an aero engine tech and later remustered to NDT. Upon retirement in 2001 he continued his career as an NDT analyst/tech with private industry until the present.
David was an avid fly fisherman who tied flys when he couldn’t cast them in the river, he embraced the Miramichi and everything about it. His true passion in life was fishing on the Miramichi. It brought him so much joy and gratitude. He died suddenly at his “second home” in Barnettville while planning his summer fishing adventure. It was his happy place.
David was loved and will be sadly missed by his wife of thirty-seven years Jane (Savoy-Russell) Miller; mother, Jean Miller of Riverview, NB; two daughters: Julie Miller of Edmonton, AB and Lana Miller of Vancouver, BC; two sons: Darren Russell (Angela) and Christopher Russell (Geraldine) all of Edmonton, AB; four grandchildren: Malia, Ivory, Elijah, and Nicholas; one brother, Bruce Miller (Karen) of Fredericton; as well as one niece Grayson and one nephew Klinton. He was predeceased by his father, Mike Miller, and father and mother-in-law: J Charles and Evangeline Savoy.
A funeral mass will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 1 PM with The Reverend Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrant, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi Emergency Centre for Women, Miramichi Youth House, Miramichi Foodbank, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
