Obituary
It is with extreme sadness that we share the loss of David Wight of Rocky Harbour, NL at the age of 76. David leaves with beautiful memories of his wife of 53 years Margaret (Read), son Todd (Cindy), and daughters Tanya (Tom) and Tara (Jason). He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Alyssa, Jillian, Tianna and Tyler whom he dearly loved. David also leaves behind his sisters Lillian, Daisy (Raymond), Judy, brother Irv (Melanie) and a very large circle of close family and friends.
David was predeceased by his parents Rendell and Melvina Wight, brother Keith, brother-in-law Cyril and his mother and father-in-law Evelyn and George Read.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. David was a journeyman mechanic who operated his own business Starlit Motors in Rocky Harbour for some 39 years. David was known for his love of family and friends, and for his kindness and generosity to all. He was especially close with his grandchildren and was always the center of family fun and activity whether it be boating, snowmobiling, sliding or just playing around in the backyard.
David was known for his many late-night road rescues and emergency car repairs, always getting families back on the road to their destinations. When that wasn’t possible, he’d often bring them home and they’d join our family until their vehicles were safe to be on the road again. A truly generous heart.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a local charity of your choice.
