Obituary
Daniel Wendel Deringer, born on February 4, 1936, in Billimun, SK, streaked across the span of life like a comet, leaving trails of love, wisdom, and fond memories. He passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023 but his influence remains infinite and inspiring.
Daniel, son of late Raymond and Margaret Deringer, was a prime example of tenacity, and a deeply ingrained work ethic. At the tender age of sixteen, he moved to Lethbridge and was embraced by relatives to start a new chapter in his life.
Stories of his diligence are celebrated, including work at service stations during the winter and returns to his farmland in Saskatchewan during springs and summers to assist with getting the crops in and harvested.
The embodiment of dedication and resilience, Daniel acquired an auto mechanic apprenticeship in 1955 with American Motors Corporation.
He demonstrated his commitment not solely in his profession but in establishing roots and creating a safe haven for his family. The Deringer family home manifested in 1957 after the sale of his beloved farm.
His personal life flourished when he married the love of his life, Eva Kormos on October 12, 1963. Their bond of love bestowed them two blessings, sons Eric and Jeffery Deringer. Daniel dedicated his time, nurturing his boys through team sports, fishing, golfing, camping trips, and quality time spent with both sets of grandparents.
Daniel continued his Auto Mechanic career until his well-deserved retirement in 1996 with the Lethbridge RCMP Post garage.
He reprised his role in 27 glorious years of retirement, finding enjoyment in daily golf with his partner Eva and a close-knit group of buddies at Henderson Lake Golf course.
He turned another leaf of his life in 1998 when he became an active member of the Nordbridge Seniors Center, and committed to managing the Games and Billiards room and league for 10 years.
Quiet, thoughtful, and always seeking perfection, Daniel lived life on his terms, cherishing the joy of family and taking pride in everything he did.
Daniel leaves in mourning his beloved wife, Eva, sons Eric and Jeffery, daughter-in-law Dolly Deringer, grandchildren Miranda Deringer – Jasmine &Kolton Menzak, Cassidy & James Muehling, and great-grandchildren Theia Menzak and Hallie Muehling. He is also survived by his sister Irene Upton and many loved nieces and nephews of the Upton and Kormos families.
He reunites in peace with his parents, Raymond and Margaret Deringer, his sister Annie Szabo & Joseph Szabo & Eric’s dearly departed wife Elisabeth Deringer. His soul will continue to glow, inspiring generations to come. As we remember Daniel, let’s celebrate a soul who lived life with determination and grace, weaving threads of love and compassion in the fabric of time.
