Vreugdenhil: Cornelis “Cor” –
A resident of Chatham, Cor Vreugdenhil passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with his family at his side on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the age of 82.
Born in Maassluis, The Netherlands, Cor was the son of the late Cornelis and Johanna (van der Eijk) Vreugdenhil.
Beloved husband of 58 years to Sara Vreugdenhil (nee Hoekstra ).
Very loving father of Cor Vreugdenhil (Beth), Anita Postma (Steve) and Mike Vreugdenhil (Lisa).
Proud Grandpa to Ian, Matt, Kate (Eli); Sam (Julianne), Sydney, Abby; Courtney, Ben and Rachel.
Great-Grandpa to Jonah Postma.
Survived by sisters Jean Timmerman (late Jake), Theresa Horneman (Cor) and brothers Pieter Vreugdenhil (Lesley) and Arie Vreugdenhil (Corrie).
Predeceased by brothers Bram (Jose), Jack (late Corrie), Joe (late Nancy) and Hank (Addie).
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Cor started as a paper boy at Kent News Service Ltd., eventually purchasing the business which he owned and operated for 20 years.
Cor and Sara enjoyed travelling the world together, having visited 50 countries.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the McKinlay Reception Centre, 463 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00pm.
Donations made in memory of Cor to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
