Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Colleen Marie (Smith) Durant which occurred at the Saint John Regional hospital on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023. Born 1948, in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late Albert and Myrtle (Russell) Tonge. Colleen was a member of the RCL Branch 69 Seniors Group and was formerly involved with the Christopher Leadership Course. In her earlier years, Colleen enjoyed camping in PEI and at Town & Country Campground in Sus with her family. She was an avid bingo player and card player. Family was most important to her and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Colleen is survived by her son Donald Durant (Tracey) of Saint John, NB; daughters Lynn Vienneau (Shawn) of Hamilton, ON, Susan Perron (Gino) of Fredericton, NB; sister and best friend Dianne Mailman (John) of Nerepis, NB; brothers Allen Smith of Tracadie, NB, Wayne Tonge of Barnesville, NB, Gary Smith (Faye) of Barrie, ON; good friend Mary Leblanc; grandchildren Donovan, Megan, Cameron, Evan, Eric, Andy, Nikolette and Maxime; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Colleen was predeceased by her husband Donald and sister Sheila.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, July 7th from 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place in the Fundy chapel on Saturday, July 8th at 9:30 a.m. followed by an interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens cemetery. Donations in memory of Colleen may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
