Clotilda Louise (Scott) Ellis passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1st, at Chaleur General Hospital bringing to a close 100 years of a life well lived and an abundance of memories.
Clottie was born in Stonehaven, NB, on February 1923, the daughter of Eldon and Margaret (Payne) Scott. She and her husband Douglas
Ellis (1917-1984) married in 1946 and settled in the family home in Salmon Beach where they raised their family enriched by an abundance of relatives and lifelong friends in that special community on the shores of the beautiful Baie Chaleur.
Clottie is survived by her son Dale Ellis (Heather), daughter Grace King (late Dan); grandchildren Nadine Charest (Eric), Edgar Ellis (Tabitha), Jonathan King (Allison), Katrina Ellis Cannon (Michael), and Michael King (Julie); great-grandchildren Mitchell, Matthew, Andrew, James and Emily; sisters Eileen Jagoe (Arthur) and Lela Branch (Percy) and brother Dave Scott (late Mary); sister-in-laws Elna Scott (late Rodney) and Bernice Scott (late Earl). In addition to her husband Douglas, she was predeceased by sisters Grace, Alice, Rena; brothers James, Wendell, Rodney and Earl.
Clottie was immensely proud of her long career with the Public Service. In retirement, she dedicated endless hours to her treasured grandchildren. She had a bright and curious mind and valued education highly. Clottie participated in and contributed actively to local community and church activities. She also loved to travel and was always open to new experiences and new perspectives.
She resided for the past ten years in Residence Le Royal in Bathurst where she maintained an active social life (not to forget rummoli and Auction 45!) and developed a wide and much cherished circle of friends. On fine days she would inevitably be spotted zooming along the adjacent streets and pathways on her little red electric scooter.
Clottie enjoyed exceptionally good health through to the final weeks of her life. She shone through the many celebrations on the event of her 100th birthday in February.
According to her wishes, her body has been donated to Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Central United Church in Clifton followed by a reception in the adjoining church hall. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
