Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clare J. O’Brien, 75, at The Moncton Hospital on June 19, 2023 surrounded by his family. Born November 11, 1947, Clare lived a life filled with love, humour and an absolute dedication to his family and friends. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Harry and Evelyn (Cox) O’Brien.
Clare will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Lillian (Agnew) O’Brien; his sons, Ted (Cindy), Trevor (Robyn), and Trent (Priscilla); his daughter, Shona O’Brien (Ozzie); cherished grandchildren, Davis, Quynn, Kien, Gage, Parker; Timara, and Nick; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Karlee, and Gracie; sister, Charlotte Walker (Graham); brothers, Terry (Rachel) and Kevin (Jill).
The most important thing to Clare was his loving family. He cherished family gatherings and always wanted everyone together. From his 5am Christmas morning phone calls to hanging out in the garage sipping coffee. Clare beamed at the mention of his grandchildren. He never missed a sporting event, horse show or Christmas concert. He took pride in saying that all his grandchildren got their good looks from him. He always said they were crazier than a bag of hammers but loved every minute it.
Clare always had a thing for cars. He retired from Lubrico Warranty after an exemplary 30 years of service. Prior to that he was a car salesman and if you ran into him while out, he could still remember what type of car he sold you. Clare had a way with people, he loved meeting and chatting with everyone he met.
Once retired, Clare spent his time tinkering around in his garage, patrolling the roads of Irishtown and never missed his daily Tim’s run with his beloved chocolate lab Allie.
A gathering to celebrate Clare’s life will be announced. Arrangements entrusted into the professional care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).
If so desired, donations in Clare’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences for Clare’s family can be shared at
