In loving memory of Charles David Connors (Age 81)
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Charles David (Dave/ Poppy) Connors, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Dave passed away at home surrounded by his loving family and friends on August 9th, 2023. He had a short but courageous bout with cancer that he battled to the very end. Dave was predeceased by his mother Helen Connors, his son Charles Connors and his brother Joseph Connors.
Dave was born on April 3rd, 1942, in Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick and he lived in multiple provinces throughout his life. He met his wife, Vera, in Ontario in 1973 and they spent 50 years together, the last 20 of which in Rocky Harbor, NFLD.
As a father, Dave was always there to support his children. His daughter Kathy and her husband Monty. His son, Tim, his daughter Heather and her husband Tom. He always enjoyed time with his family.
Dave, also known as Poppy, got the most joy from his grandchildren. Justin, Cody, Brittney, Kyrie, Taysen, Isabella, Declan & Lucy. He was always there to help them out with special projects, celebrate their achievements and watch them grow.
Dave’s life was characterized by kindness, understanding and unwavering loyalty to his friends and family. He was not very outspoken but always willing to help and use his creative genius to solve any challenge.
Dave had a passion for reading and could always be found engulfed in complex physics books or studying history. He enjoyed spending time in his gardens, collecting rocks for his next masonry project, wood working, drawing, painting and watching his Montreal Canadians. Christmas was his favorite time of year to spend time with family, enjoy thimble cookies and treat everyone to his Irish Mist coffees.
Dave’s legacy will continue to live on in the memories he left us with. We bid goodbye to a very special man who will be greatly missed.
In accordance with Dave’s wishes, he chose to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Rest in peace Dave, you will be missed and forever loved.
The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Parsons Funeral Home 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL.
