It with extremely heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bob McGrath, age 53, of Torbay.
Bob is predeceased by his father, Tom.
Leaving to mourn, the love of his life and best friend, his wife of 22 years, Kim. His pride and joy, his children; Emily (20) and Nicholas (17). Also, leaving to mourn, his beloved Mom, Debby; his siblings Tom (Sue) and Krista (Chris); his nieces Allie, Haylee, Hannah and Nicola; nephews Ben and Matt; Brothers-in-law Gilbert (Regina), Steve (Valerie), and Andrew; sister-in-law Shelley (Rob); Special niece Amanda (Mark) who he loved like a daughter; and a large circle of relatives and close friends, especially all his buddies.
He worked in Human Resources, his entire career, in various industries where he was well liked and well respected for his kind and gentle nature, and his ability to treat everyone fairly and with respect.
He loved his hometown of Torbay and took many opportunities to volunteer as a coach or leader for one of his kids’ activities.
He had an adventurous spirit, always coming up with fun and unique places to visit around Newfoundland and outside the province. He planned the best vacations and before one was over, he was planning the next.
He loved to cook and was well known for his smoked brisket and his Bob sandwiches. He loved being in the woods, cutting and splitting wood; he loved gardening, and tapping trees for maple syrup. He was a fixer, a handyman, and most of an all, he loved more than anything to have fun.
Cremation has taken place. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 11am – 9pm. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at Caul’s Chapel, LeMarchant Road, at 12:30pm on Friday, January 12, 2024.
