Marie Strickland
November 18, 1938 – May 14, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Therese “Marie” Strickland (nee Power), who died surrounded by her loving family on May 14, 2024 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital at the tender age of 85 years.
Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Kathleen Power; sisters: Katherine “Kitty” Pittman, Elizabeth Hennebury, Margaret Ryan, and Beverly Kelly; and children: Rick, Michelle and Rodney.
Leaving to mourn, her children: Kenneth (Brenda), Mary (Dan), Shawn (Bev) and Jerry “Doobs”; siblings Fran (John), Tom, Ruth and Carol (John); grandchildren: Richard, Matthew, Krista, Ryan, Lee, Jordan and Shaleen; great-grandchildren: Austin, April. Faith, Parker, Aubrey and Adeline; very special great-granddaughter, Faith, whom Mom was a second mother to and adored; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, especially her friend and neighbor, Lorraine Boland.
Marie was a loving and compassionate and caring mother, daughter, sister and friend to all that knew her. She had a zest for life. She had a love for darts, walking, talking on the phone and was very passionate about her family get togethers. She will be dearly missed by all.
Special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, 7th Floor West. Your kindness and compassion was greatly appreciated. Thank you to her sister Ruth for going above and beyond. The family was very appreciative. And lastly, a very special thank you to her brother Tom who was always there for the good and bad throughout her life. Mom loved you so much.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Friday, May 17th from 12 p.m to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Caul’s Chapel on Saturday, May 18th at 10 a.m with cremation to follow.
Flowers graciously accepted, or donation’s in Mom’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
