It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the loss of our dear husband, father and grandfather Edward Bruce Gillingham, age 61 on October 13, 2023.
Predeceased by his parents Eric and Beryl Gillingham, and brother Craig Gillingham.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife, Ann Gillingham; his children: Adam (Megan), Gregory (Jacqueline), and Rebecca; grandchildren: Remi, Claire, Charlotte, and Ira; and his precious puppy dogs: Pippa and Willow; siblings: Shirley Dean and Anne White; brother-in-law Robert; sisters-in-law: Claudine, Cathy, Joan, Corinna (Sean) and Michelle (Paul). Edward also leaves behind nieces, nephews extended family members and friends.
Ed was a loving husband and phenomenal father. He was born in St. John’s and moved to Norris Arm when he was a child, where he spent most days out with his childhood dog Blackie. After moving back to St. John’s for school, he met his wife Ann at 19. He started working for Newfoundland Tractor as a delivery driver, and worked his way up in the company to become Manager for Toromont Cat in Goose Bay. He spent 27 amazing years in Labrador, hunting, fishing, going off on skidoo and raising 3 children. In 2014, Ed and Ann moved back to the island, where he spent most of his time with his dogs going for walks in the woods. Ed ended his career as a Project Planner in Voisey’s Bay. He spent many years talking about his retirement, and building his cabin on his land. His last few years were hard, his last days harder. He passed away surrounded by the people who loved him most.
Funeral Service will be held from St. Kevin’s Church in the Goulds on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 10:00am.
