It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sandra “Sandy” Corcoran-Ward, aged 57 years, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was loved by many, and will be remembered most for her wonderful sense of humour. She was able to fill a room with laughter, even on her worst days. She loved a good party with family and friends, but was most content curled up with a good book and her cat.
She is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Anna Corcoran, special aunts Jeanette & Kay, and close cousin Hal.
Leaving behind with broken hearts are her daughters Amanda, Holly (Jeff) and Samantha(Wayne), her beloved grandchildren Lily, Leo and Bella; sister Lucille (Luke); brothers Randy (Maureen) and Tommy; special niece Jennifer and great nephew Caleb, as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; especially close friends Maryann, Patsy, Kathy, Trevor, Sally, and Fred the Cat.
A sincere thank you to Sandy’s cancer care team, including the staff of St . Clare’s – ER and 7 west, as well as HSC – 5NA, ER, and ICU. An extra special thank you to Lisa and the palliative care team for providing exceptional care, comfort and special moments in her final days.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, St. John’s, on Friday July 12, 2pm-7pm. Service to be held at St. Joseph the Worker Cemetery in Riverhead, St. Mary’s Bay on Sunday July 14, 11am, followed by refreshments at RCL branch 62.
Flowers graciously accepted, or donations may be made in Sandy’s memory to the palliative care unit at the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre.
