In Loving Memory of Matthew Alexander Thomas
Matthew Alexander Thomas passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, following a brief illness, surrounded by his devoted family. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Alexander (Sandy) Greeley and Martin Thomas; uncles, Charlie Wiseman and Derek Thomas; his aunt, Lynda Evans; and his very special cousin, Freddy Wiseman.
Matthew leaves behind a treasure trove of cherished memories in the hearts of his parents, Dave and Tina, as well as his beloved brother and sister, Justin and Melanie (Jared). He is survived by his grandmothers, Margaret Thomas and Barbara Greeley, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and a vast circle of family and friends who held a special place in his life. A heartfelt mention is reserved for his cousin Cassandra White, who consistently went above and beyond for Matthew, offering unwavering support and love.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nurses of the CVICU at the Health Sciences Centre, especially Dr. Janet Ngu.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Thrive, an organization that had a profound and positive impact on Matthew’s life or his GoFundMe Page to alleviate financial stress from his family.
Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday, October 19th, from 5 pm to 9 pm. The funeral service to celebrate Matthew’s life will take place at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 20th at 11 a.m.
Matthew’s journey reminds us that “God gives his hardest battles to his toughest soldiers.”
