It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Darren Vaughn Stacey (Munk) on Friday, July 19, 2024, in St. John’s Newfoundland at the age of 57.
Darren was born in St. John’s and was lovingly raised with the Whitten family; father Robert and mother Eva (deceased); siblings, Sarah, Judy, Wayne, Dawn (Fred) and Donna (Kevin) from a young age. He is survived by his 3 loving children; Murray, Madeline and Natascha who are deeply mourning the loss of their beloved father. He has a large extended family across Newfoundland and Ontario. His many siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and a large circle of friends, will miss him dearly.
Darren retired from the Canadian Armed Forces at the rank of Sergeant, where he proudly served for 29 years in the Military Police. He was an avid lover of yoga and mixed martial arts. He enjoyed playing baseball and was the biggest Miami Dolphins fan. He thrived being in nature, breathing in the ocean air and going for long walks. Darren was a music enthusiast and took great pleasure in playing his guitar. He loved his golden retrievers and his special feline companion Buddy. A big thank you to Sharon for caring for Buddy during this time, we appreciate the love extended to him.
Life is short and unpredictable. Take the time from your busy schedules and reach out to your friends and family. Get together as often as you can because you never know when will be the last time you will feel their embrace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Barrett’s Funeral home Reception Centre on 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
