Alice Hogan Moyst Obituary
Alice Hogan Moyst passed away peacefully at O’Mahoney Manor in Clarenville on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the age of 80.
Predeceased by parents: William and Anastasia Hogan; and brother Bernard.
Alice leaves cherished memories with her sons: Paul and Kurt (Shannon); grandchildren: Kimberley, Daniel, Michael and baby James; brother Thomas Hogan (Beth) and sister Maureen Hogan (Luke); nieces and nephews: Luke, Steven, Colleen, and Denise – all of whom shared a special bond with her; as well as many students, friends and extended family members.
We are deeply grateful to the nurses and staff of Clarenville Protective Care Residence and O’Mahony Manor for their compassion and care over the past two years.
Alice was a primary/elementary teacher for 30 years and was truly beloved by her students, invariably described as kind, patient and nurturing. She formed a deep bond with her granddaughter Kimberley, who provided much comfort and companionship in her later years. Alice was also immensely grateful to know her grandson Daniel.
She worked hard to learn to play the guitar and cultivated a great love of music. She made many friends through tai chi and rug hooking, activities that she found deeply fulfilling.
Alice was a curious, humble and generous soul who never failed to support others in their time of need.
Please join us for visitation at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mount Pearl on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00pm.
Donations in remembrance of Alice may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
