June 2, 1936 – May 2, 2024
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, the family of the late Wilson Taylor announces his peaceful passing at the age of 87 at the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony.
Wilson was born to William and Lillian Taylor, of Forrester’s Point, on June 2, 1936. It was there that he would spend the majority of his life, until later years moving to the Ivy Durley Place in Flower’s Cove, and most recently moving to the John M. Gray Center in St. Anthony. In November 1958, he married Elva Taylor, of Forrester’s Point. In December 1963, they welcomed their one and only daughter, Mary Ann.
Wilson was never the type to sit still. He could usually be found tinkering, building, or fixing something in one of his sheds. He thoroughly enjoyed puttering around and took great pride in fixing or building things for his family. He would also spend lots of time doing things for his family. In the winter, he happily volunteered to drive his grandson to hockey practices during the week. Also, every summer he would tow his camper to Rocky Harbour for two weeks to spend with their grandson while he completed swimming lessons.
Left behind to grieve his passing is daughter, Mary Ann, and son-in-law, Calvin. He will be sadly missed by his grandson, Jeremy, his wife, Hilary, and their sons Grady and Rhett. Wilson will be sadly missed by his brother Jacob (Mary Ann) and sisters Annie, Susan (Steve) and a very long list of extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife Elva, his parents, William and Lillian, brothers Stewart, Gordon, Kirby and Lorenzo and his sisters Mary Jane and Sybil.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the John M. Gray Centre for their compassionate and committed care. They would also like to thank the staff at Curtis Memorial Hospital and Ivy Durley Place for their efforts over the years while he lived there. The family would also like to give a heartfelt thanks to his niece Blenda for her compassion, presence and continued support for Wilson when he moved to St. Anthony.
Cremation has occurred and a celebration will be planned and announced at a later date.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Home, St. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard, Funeral Director.
