Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Cecil Derrick Allen, who passed away peacefully at home on November 19th, 2024.
Cecil leaves to mourn the love of his life, Dorothy Allen (nee Drover), with whom he shared 64 cherished years of marriage and memories. He also leaves behind his loving children, Jim (Julie) Allen, Sharon (Kenny) Yatsko, Karen (Vance) Lindsay, and Patricia (David) Price, as well as 11 grandchildren: Cecil, Melissa, Lisa, Sydney, Ashley, Melody, Alexandria, Keenan, Owen, Luke, and Ryan, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Cecil will be sadly missed by his brothers Keith (Grace) Allen, Jim Allen, Robert Allen, and Don Allen, as well as Terry and Glenda Osmond, plus a large circle of nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.
Cecil was the son of the late Llewellyn and Emily Allen. He was also predeceased by his sisters Carrie Coffin and Rowena Francis, brothers Archibald Allen and Edward Allen, his son Paul Allen, and grandson Wyatt Lindsay.
Cecil was known by many for his love of music. He played the guitar and fiddle and could often be found playing along with the Salvation Army band until his later years when he wasn’t able.
Friends and family are welcome to visit on Friday, November 22nd from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at East Haven Funeral Home, 57 Grand Bay Rd, Port-aux-Basques. The funeral will take place on Saturday, November 23rd at 1 PM at the Salvation Army Church, 93 LeGrow St., officiated by Ministry Leads David and Beverly Harvey, followed by burial and lunch.
In keeping with Cecil’s wishes, flowers can be sent to the East Haven Funeral Home or donations to the Salvation Army.
