In Loving Memory: Paul White, January 3, 1946 – March 15,
2024.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Paul
White announce his peaceful passing on March 15, 2024 at St. Clare’s
Mercy Hospital in St. John’s, NL. He was in his
78th year.
Predeceased by his loving wife Martha (the
Scrabble champion) and his parents Ronald and Hannah
White.
Leaving to mourn with fond memories his sons Paul Jr (Amanda
Young & his granddaughter Nevaeh), Jason (& grandson
Brandyn); sisters Mary (Joe) Penney, Judy (Gus) Melbourne,
Betty (Sal Hearn – deceased) and Helen (Ed) Flynn;
brothers Bill (Marie), Ed (Ellen Theresa) and Gerard (Jorge); plus a
large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dad relished being by the side of a pond (Mountain Woods was
his favorite) casting for trout while having a boil up. He thoroughly
enjoyed nature activities, fishing for trout and salmon with his boys,
berry picking, wood cutting, bird watching & sight-seeing with
mom, and growing vegetables in his garden. He was an avid Cub and
Scout leader in Dunville, and he loved teaching his boys in these
programs. Further, he enjoyed boy scout outings and jamboree time,
teaching survival skills and life skills to the groups. Dad played a
variety of musical instruments and he will always be remembered as a
musical master, especially on lead guitar. There are many fond
memories of him playing with the Smith boys (Midsounds), and a variety
of other bands, for over 40 years. Music held a very special place in
his heart and his passion was sharing it with others.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation to take place
at Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia on Tuesday March 19, from
2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Burial will be a private
celebration in the near future.
A very special thank you to the amazing medical
professionals at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital (and also Pearl House in
Mount Pearl) for the care and compassion during dad’s time
there.
“I don’t care what’s right or wrong,
I won’t
try to understand.
Let the devil take tomorrow,
But tonight I need a friend…”
~Help Me Make It
Through the Night, by Kris Kristofferson – and sung perfectly by Mark
Smith (Midsounds), Windjammer Club, Argentia NL, 1979.
