It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and sister, Jackie Mullett (nee Slaney) The loss we feel of her sudden passing is insurmountable.
Jackie was the most loving thoughtful human being. She touched many lives with her kindness but the most joy she felt was when she was with her grandchildren, they were the light of her life and anyone who knew her was aware she loved every minute spent with them.
She was known for her love of cooking. She catered weddings, opened her own restaurant which she affectionately named after her Mom, “Aunt Deesie’s Diner” and delivered food to many families over the years who lost loved ones. Jackie was the first one on their doorstep with something she cooked or baked for the family. It wasn’t unusual to leave her house with a batch of cookies she baked or some leftovers from a meal she cooked. Cooking was her passion and something she enjoyed sharing with others.
Jackie was an active member in the Liberal Association for many years having been the Campaign Manager for Mary Hodder’s successful campaign which had the highest vote in the province at that time. She was president of the Liberal Association and ran as a candidate herself in 2011. Her love of politics was evident from an early age and her contributions didn’t go unnoticed.
Jackie served on the Provincial Darts association for 34 years acting in many capacities. She served as Financial Director, Membership Director and 1st Vice President. She travelled the country through her involvement with darts and has so many great friends she met from her involvement with the organization.
Jackie was predeceased by her Mother and Father, Louisa and Leo Slaney, and granddaughter Ciara.
She leaves to mourn her 4 children, Larry Jr, (Chris Brennan) Bethann (Karl Kilfoy) Veronica (Jamie Sheppard) Michael (Randy Burton), 8 Grandchildren, Emma, Noel, Jordyn, Patrick, Karlee, Jaxson, Sophia and Sarah, sister Leona (Jason Ryder), brother Ken Gleeson and partner Don Bishop.
