Peter was a devoted pharmacist and successful businessman. He served his valued customers from Bell Island to Port-aux-Basques, with his last and happiest location in Holyrood.
He was a passionate man who had many interests. He loved to play cards, from 120’s at an early age at his parents table, to obsessive bridge in Port-aux-Basques, to Texas Hold’em in Holyrood, to finally cribbage every day with Wanda at Tiffany Village.
He loved sports, most of them. CFL, NFL, hockey, golf, tennis, and baseball. He watched the Expos on his honeymoon in Montreal, saw his beloved “Habs” several times, the US Open Tennis in New York and his NFL idol Tom Brady play on his last travels to USA.
He played golf from the age of 16 until his illness no longer allowed him to play.
His love of his prized cabin in Brigus Junction was a big part of his life for 25 plus years. This developed into a love of boating and snowmobiling. All the many gatherings of family and friends there made for precious memories. Longtime friends, Roger and Enid Gushue, Sean and Elaine Lane, Paul Saunders and Sally Bartlett and Billy and Laura Penney all contributed greatly to his many good times at the card table, the cabin and all the escapades Peter so dearly loved.
He also fulfilled his lifelong wish to salmon fish in Labrador. He returned to the Eagle River for 4 consecutive years and was never more content than when he had a “fish on” and tight lines.
Peter also travelled to many tropical locations later in his life. He enjoyed cruises and was happy to experience fun in the sun in many countries.
I wish to thank the staff of the second floor of Tiffany Village, especially Aaron, Regina, Heather and Ilhan for their exceptional care of Peter.
Also, thanks go to the staff of 4SA for the care of Peter in his final days.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at Dunphy’s Funeral home, Holyrood at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to your local foodbank.
