Debra “Debbie” Woodford Obituary
It is with incredibly heavy hearts that the Woodford/Elliott family announce Debbie’s passing on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 at the Health Sciences Center ICU with her husband Ray and daughter Susanne at her side.
Debbie was born on August 4, 1955 to Claude and Jessie Elliott in Markland, NL and lived a quiet, rich and rewarding life with her small family and circle of friends. Debbie had the privilege to dedicate her years of service as the acting Post Mistress in Harbour Main. She not only loved and enjoyed each day at her job, but she also was blessed to work with an incredible team who she considered valuable friends. She was perhaps the most genuine, kind-hearted, caring, generous and selfless person.
The only thing that superseded her love of her career and all the people she chatted to daily was the love she had for her family, including her fur babies. She was the matriarch of her home and was an amazing wife. Her day began and ended with smiles and a pure heart. She was a role model and a very proud mother and grandmother. She loved her two grandchildren, Tyler and Athena fiercely, and was always a big piece of their daily lives. She chased cheer, dance and hockey and what she didn’t get to physically, she followed up with them that evening.
Leaving to mourn with warm and loving memories are her husband and high school sweetheart, Ray, her daughter Susanne and the man she loved like a son, Carl Dohey, her grandson Tyler and granddaughter Athena. Siblings: sister Carolyn Roberts, brothers; Keith, Gary and Claude Elliott, in-laws: Rex Roberts, Eileen Elliott, Cathy Elliott, Isabelle Peckford, Cecilia Blundon and Charlotte Tuinman, as well as a small circle of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends.
At Debbie’s request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitor’s at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood on Wednesday, January 17th from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Harbour Main’s beautiful Sts. Peter and Paul Parish on Thursday, January 18th, 2024 at 10:30 am.
For anyone interested, donations are gratefully accepted to support the Canadian Diabetes Association or the SPCA.
