Obituary for
Stanley Philip Fiander
Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Health Care Centre at Grand Falls-Windsor on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, Stanley Philip Fiander, age 79 years of Belleoram.
Stanley leaves to mourn his loving family: wife, Pearl at Belleoram; sons, Harris Fiander, Barry Fiander and David (Jessie) Fiander, all at Belleoram; daughter, Mandy Fiander at Grand Falls-Windsor; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother, David Fiander (Mabel) at Nova Scotia; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Stanley was predeceased by his father, Stanley Fiander and his mother, Bertha Fiander; brothers, Charlie Fiander and Chesley Fiander; sister, Lucy at Nova Scotia.
Stanley was born on October 24th, 1944 at English Harbour West. He moved to Belleoram at an early age where he met Pearl. They had 4 wonderful children and were later blessed with grandchildren; Shannon, Nena, Katie and Jacob and great grandchildren; Kiera, Cade and Lily.
He started his fishing career at the early age of 18 in Nova Scotia and later in Fortune, NL. He than went to work with the Town Council followed by working at the Fish Plant at Belleoram. He volunteered as Fire Chief and maintaining the field every summer for the Iron Skull Folk Festival.
He enjoyed the simple things in life like his morning walks, chatting with people and watching the boats in the harbour. He didn’t like to travel far, but when he did he went to visit his daughter, Mandy, at Grand Falls.
Stan was a kind hearted man who loved cats, even the ‘strays’; he made sure all the cats outside were fed. This led to him getting shown on a CBC episode of “Land and Sea”. Every time he was asked to do something his response was always ‘racley’ or ‘benby’.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no service but there will be a get together at a later date. Pearl and family would like to send heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Central Health; your kindness and care shall never be forgotten.
