Gloria Mitchell Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Gloria Mona Mitchell (Rice) at the age of 68 years old. She passed away peacefully with her husband and sons by her side.
Gloria was born on May 28, 1955, in Springdale, NFLD to Ernest and Eileen Rice. She spent her first 5 years of life in Triton, NFLD. Her family moved to Deer Lake, NFLD where she spent her childhood and then moved to Grand Falls-Windsor, NFLD to spend her teenage years.
She met Cluney at the age of 17. They were married on July 30, 1976 in Grand Falls-Windsor. They started their family with the birth of Michael on June 22, 1979. They moved to Fort McMurray, AB in 1983 to make their careers and love grow. Her second son Matthew was born on January 24, 1986. Gloria’s love for her sons never waivered. She loved watching them grow up to be the amazing men that they have become. They both loved her so much. In later years her biggest pride and joys were her grandkids who made her family complete.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband Cluney (47 years married and 50 years together), her sons Michael (Angie), Matthew, her sister Gwen, brother Roy (Donna), twin brother Glenn (Rolinda), grandkids Cameron, Cadence, and Cullen. She was also a beloved daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.
Gloria is predeceased by her father Ernest, mother Eileen, mother-in-law Hyacinth, and brothers-in-law Ambrose, Aubrey and Lloyd.
Gloria loved her family and friends with all of her heart. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. Gloria loved many things about life but her greatest love was her relationship with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Gloria served him for 39 years. She attended women’s ministries, 50+ and lots of other activities within the church.
Viewing for the family was on Friday December 8, 2023 from 3-5 pm @ Serenity Funeral Service, 600 Calahoo Road, Spruce Grove, AB.
Funeral for family and friends was at 1 pm on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at East Parkland Bible Church, 4704 79 Ave, Stony Plain AB.
