Eric’s Obituary
Eric Dean Gould, born June 23rd,1938 in Berwick, Nova Scotia. He always loved fixing things even as a child and worked as a mechanic from 1955-1972, working at various dealerships in the Annapolis Valley before venturing off on his own as a truck driver in 1973 -1975. He then moved to Newfoundland and loved it here. He worked for Day & Ross, Chaulk’s and McNamara until he injured his back while working in Hynes Lake. He then retrained for an electronic technician in 1980. After working at a few shops he opened his own and was a TV repairman for Colemans until he retired in 1998. Eric had a long battle with cancer, he fought hard for 25 years. Passing peacefully away on Tuesday, November 21st,2023 at the Palliative care unit in Corner Brook at the age of 85 years.
Eric is survived by his wife Margaret(nee Collins) of 63 years. Sons; Gregory (Dana), David (Mila), grandchildren; Kristen (Jordan), Camden (Lindsey), Derian, James (Taylor), Jerome and Jacquelynn. Step sister Janet Tupper and step sister-in-law Ruth Fitch. Brother Max Gould. Also leaving to mourn are many nieces, nephews other extended family and friends.
Predeceased by father Archibald Gould, step father Wayne Morse, mother Marguerite Gould Morse, grandson Jeffrey Gould, parents-in-law Maurice & Marguerite Collins, sister-in-law Beatrice Fitch and brothers-in-law; Eugene Fitch and Arthur Collins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Deer Lake Public Health team, the dr.’s and nurses at western Memorial Regional Hospital and the Palliative Care staff. Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre and the ENT department and Staff and Parsons Funeral Home.
In keeping with Eric’s wishes cremation will take place. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 27th,2023 at 11am at the family plot in the United section of the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery, Wights Rd. with Major Henry Bingle officiating.
