Obituary
On Saturday Nov. 4, 2023, Bernice quietly and peacefully surrendered to her heavenly home from St Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St John’s, NL surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 80.
Bernice was born in Roddickton, NL but her and Leighton lived in many different communities during their 33 years as Salvation Army Officers before retiring in 1999. During her lifetime Bernice touched many lives and made friends with almost everyone she met. She was very loving, caring, and compassionate and that reflected in her day-to-day life right to the very end. The moto she lived by was “you’ll never miss anything you give to help someone else”.
She is predeceased by her son Bradley, parents Thomas & Cassie Colbourne, sister Edna, and brothers Ernest and Willie.
Bernice is survived and forever loved by her husband of 61 years Leighton, sons Brian (Cindy), Robert (Kim), Blair (Angie). Sisters Mabel and Mary. Her precious grand and great grandchildren, who become well known to everybody who knew her: Grandchildren Megan, Ryan (Nichola), Nikki, Brooke, Breigh, Maddox, & Mea. Great Grandchildren Berkleigh & Paisleigh and many close friends.

The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Parsons Funeral Home 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL.
A celebration of life will be held at the Salvation Army in Deer Lake at a later date.
