February 29, 1932 – March 27, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of Martin Lucas Sr., announce his passing at his residence, on March 27, at the age of 92 years.
Martin grew up in a large family and at a young age left school to help support his family. He later met and married Viola, the love of his life, with whom he shared a loving relationship even after her death in 2021, faithfully visiting her gravesite every day. He was a hard worker who devoted his life to family. Family was everything to him. He was generous to others and preferred to give than to receive. He loved to hear and to tell a good joke; as laughter was like medicine to him. His home was a welcoming place, and his door was open to all.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life- berry picking; (with a talent for filling buckets faster than any of us), trout-fishing, playing cards and tinkering in his shed. He enjoyed regular telephone chats with family members and became excited in anticipation of summer visits from those living out of province. Martin was a great man, well liked and well respected, humble and grateful for the blessings in his life. Those who loved him and those who were loved by him will always remember him.
Martin leaves behind a loving legacy cherished by his daughters Joan (Roddie), Debbie, Helen (Martin), Marie (Randy), his sons Martin Jr. (Donna) and Todd (Luena), and his grandchildren Cory (Sherry), Terri-Lynn (Eugene), Jamie (Sabrina), Sean (Chastity), Kody, Tyler (Jenn), Terry (Heidi), Candace (Alex), Conrad, Christy (James), and Caira. He is also survived by his siblings Mercedes, Marie, Olivera, Adolph, Albert, Madonna, Shirley, Rosalie, Hayward, Percy, Sibby, and David, and 14 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Viola, his sons Paul & Peter, his parents Joseph R and Florence Lucas, and his siblings Isaac, Catherine, Vincent, Sammy, Raymond, Augustine, Maurice, and MaryAnn,
along with his brothers and sisters- in- law, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
He was the best Dad and Grandad and loved us all unconditionally. His passing has left a huge void in our lives, but we will find peace in knowing we now have two angels watching over us.
With respect to Martin’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Inurnment at a graveside service will be held at a later date at Assumption Parish Cemetery
