It is with broken hearts we announce that Colin Alexander Gosse, 46 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 25th at GB Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville. He battled his cancer diagnoses like a warrior, never complaining, until his last breath.
Colin was born on the west coast and was raised in St. Fintan’s. He later moved to Labrador City to begin work in the mining industry. He took much pride in his work as an operator/maintainer at Rio Tinto (Iron Ore Company of Canada). His coworkers became his family.
Colin was known as a really respectful and kind person. He was a foodie at heart and lived for a good steak. He loved to travel, especially to visit Marcela’s parents and their extended family in Mexico. He always spoke kindly about his friends and loved them dearly. Colin will be remembered for his sense of humor and his loved of sarcasm.
Colin was a family man, through and through. He met the love of his life, Marcela, 20 years ago and their love story was one of a kind. They were true soul mates until the very end. Colin loved Marcela and their three children immensely. Nothing was more important than his family. He attended every sporting or school event possible – from figure skating to taekwondo. He worked hard to provide for his family. If you know one thing about Colin, it’s that he loved his Pugs: Pedro and Pepita who rested in the sun with him in his final days.
Colin was pre-deceased by his Uncle Jim (James) Quilty. He is survived by his wife Marcela Gosse, their three children Derek (DJ), Mia and Renata Gosse, parents Patsy and Derek Gosse, brother Donnie Gosse (Treshana) and nieces Emily and Georgia, and his other family the Ponces and the Leonard’s (PJ).
Colin will be cremated according to his wishes. A memorial service will be held at a date in future.
Our family wishes to thank so many people: the medical teams at Labrador Grenfell Health (Selina and Oncology), Health Sciences Centre/Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, St. John’s (Dr. Grewal, Dr. Dunne, Dr. Thom and Dr. Armstrong), Dr. GB Cross Memorial Hospital Clarenville (emergency department, medical floor, and oncology – Dr. Dawson, Angela and her team at oncology). We would also like to thank realtor Rod Murphy for finding us the perfect location for Colin to rest in his final weeks. Thank you to our many family and friends for their overwhelming support during this most stressful time.
In lieu of flowers a go fund me account has been created for Colin’s children’s education fund here:
