Ruby Elizabeth (Betty) Kennedy (Smith) June 28, 1946 – March 14, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and sister Ruby Elizabeth Kennedy (Betty) at home surrounded by her family after a brief illness at the age of 77.
Predeceased by her husband Michael Kennedy; parents William and Anastasia Smith; infant sister Madonna; brothers Jim (Alma) Smith, Jerry (Irene) Smith; sister-in-law Lossie Smith and nephew Gerard Smith.
Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her children Elizabeth (Corey) Gill, Madonna (Dave) Menchion, Judy, Margaret (Rocky) Burt, sons Michael (Jill) Kennedy and Robert. Brothers Angus, Don (Nina), Hughie (Jeanette), Ray (Jackie) and sister Margaret (Ron). Grandchildren, Samantha, Catherine, Ryan, Mackenzie, Jessica, Miranda, Emma, Hannah and Kenny.
Special thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Greg Banfield of the palliative care unit at the James Paton Regional Health Care Centre. Continuing Care Nurses Sarah, Brittany, Debbie, Stephanie, and Mary for their compassionate care and support during mom’s brief illness.
A private family service will be held at Stacey’s Funeral Home with internment to follow at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gander SPCA.
