It is with great sadness the family of the late Allan Freeman announces his passing at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre on Wednesday December 20th, 2023 at the age of 102 years.
Allan G. Freeman born in Twillingate on September 22nd, 1921 to the late Lucy & Harvey Freeman, he also had one sister whom he is predeceased by, Hilda.
Allan received his education at the Centre High School in Twillingate. He enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1940, due to hearing problems was rejected.
In 1941 he went to Gander to work with Atlas Construction Co. Ltd.
In 1943 returned to Twillingate to work at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital in charge of supplies, food, etc.
In 1945 he joined the society United Fisherman Lodge No 12 and Twillingate Masonic Lodge No 7.
In 1946 he married Mary Short of Terra Nova. They lived together for 65 years.
In 1951 he left Twillingate to take a position with A.N.D. Co Ltd at Terra Nova, Logging Division.
In 1957 started a retail business which he sold in 1983. The years he retired.
He moved to Gander in 1999 to the Golden Legion Manor and moved to Oram’s Bethesda Manor in 2023.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 23rd at 11:00 A.M. from the Anglican Church, Terra Nova. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery.
