Gilbert “Gib” Elliott Obituary
Passed peacefully away while surrounded by family on November 11, 2024 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gilbert Ryburn Elliott. He was 90 years of age.
Gilbert (Gib) was born on September 24th, 1934 in Botwood, NL to Aaron and Mary Elliott. After graduating high school, he trained to become an electrician and began working at Abitibi Price Paper Mill in 1953.
On December 30th, 1953 he married his sweetheart, Pearl. They settled in Windsor and raised their family of five children. He retired from Abitibi in 1990.
In January of 1965 Gilbert’s life was transformed when he chose to become an “all in” Jesus follower. From that time Gib’s desire was to serve his Lord and others wholeheartedly. His family and those that he impacted are an amazing legacy for a life well lived.
At 6:45 AM, November 11th, 2024, Gilbert “finished his race” while being cheered across the finish line by his family.
He will be forever loved, respected, and remembered by those who knew him best.
The funeral service will take place at the Windsor Pentecostal Church on Friday, November 16, 2024. Interment will take place at the Windsor Pentecostal Cemetery for immediate family only. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Ross Elliott, Barry Elliott, Marie Clarke, Barbara O’Grady and Myrna Pardy.
