Obituary
Pat passed away on March 20th, 2023, at the age of 74, surrounded by her children.
Patricia Gail Bjornerud (nee Maloney) was born November 14, 1948 in Sudbury, Ontario to Edwin and Esther Maloney. At an early age, the family moved to Yorkton where Pat attended her first years of elementary school, prior to moving to Churchbridge where she continued her schooling. Pat was involved in various school sports including volleyball, softball, curling and track and field. Outside of school, Pat enjoyed skating as well. She married Bob Bjornerud in 1965, living in Saltcoats, and eventually moving to the family farm. Over the years Pat was an active member of the Saltcoats Curling Club as well as being involved with Minor Sports, contributing her time to Minor Ball and Figure Skating. She spent many years following and supporting her kids in their community and school activities.
In 1990, Pat took a job as a Care Aide at the Lakeside Manor Care Home in Saltcoats where she was employed until moving to Yorkton in February of 2005. Pat then took a position in the Scheduling Department at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre where she worked until her retirement in May of 2016. She had a passion for caring for others and made many special friendships in all facilities she worked in.
Pat enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and taking care of her many flowers and plants. She loved watching sports, with curling being one of her favourites. One of Pat’s greatest passions was following and watching her grandchildren in their various activities. Whether it was in the school gym for volleyball or basketball games, the rinks watching hockey and skating or out at the ball diamonds, Pat could not have been more proud of their accomplishments.
Pat was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Esther Maloney, her brother Michael, as well as other extended family members. Those left to cherish her memory include Grant (Laurie Ann) and their children Mackenzie and Brady, Garnet (Karen) and her children Kelsey, Eric and Carlie, Jodi and her children Austin, Lauren and Callie, her siblings Linda Welk, Jeanne (Barry) Czinkota, Bob (Dianne) Maloney, Kim (Glennie) Carlson, Kevin (Inga) Carlson, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A special thank you to the staff at the Canora Gateway Lodge and the Yorkton District Nursing Home (Morris House) for their compassion and care.
A private graveside service was held this fall.
