Mabel Bowman aged 102 years of Lanigan passed away at Central Parkland Lodge, Lanigan SK on Saturday, August 17th, 2024 .
Mabel was born to Albert and Marie (Jantz) Schroeder and was the last of the nine children of that family. She has one half sister, Sharon Kasdorf of Calgary remaining. While at school in Guernsey, she was very sports-mined and was proud to have completed her Grade 10. At the age of 14 the family had moved to Guernsey where she joined the Sharon young people group. Here she met Clayton whom she married on October 16, 1941 at the age of 19. Born to them were 3 children, James (deceased), Roland and Judy.
Mabel took pride in being a farm wife – caring for the yard and garden and being the best baker of cinnamon buns and perfect pies. Clayton died on December 21, 1990. In 2018 she moved into Jubilee Homes in Lanigan and then into Parkland Lodge in 2021 and remained there until her passing on August 17, 2024.
The Funeral service will take place at Christian Fellowship Church 58 Mayo Street Lanigan, SK S0K 2M0 on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024 at 2:00 pm . Interment will take place in Sharon Mennonite Cemetery .
