JOHNSON: Lorna M. (nee Storey)
July 1, 1930 – July 8, 2024
Lorna Marie Johnson (nee Storey) was born July 1, 1930, to parents Waldo and Ella Storey of Young, Saskatchewan. In 1948, she married Anton Norman Johnson. They began life together on a farm five miles outside of Young, where they farmed for 32 years before moving into town to start a new career. Lorna trained and worked as a home care aid for many years. Between after school care with grandchildren, hosting a tatting club and clothing repairs, she would also host royal wedding dress up tea parties and St. Patrick Day parties.
She went to school in Young and was unable to complete grade 12 due to illness. Her proudest achievement was completing her GED at age 72 with honors.
She passed away early morning July 8, 2024, leaving behind her four children Ruby (Jerry), Garnet (Colleen), Russell (Fay) and Janet (Ray), 15 grandchildren, and 21 ½ great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother and one grandson.
The Funeral Service will be held at Christ Lutheran – Young United Church on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Followed by a Reception at the Young Community Hall. Private Family Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Saskatoon, SK. For those so wishing memorial donations to Christ Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
