With saddened hearts, we announce that Murray Leslie Sims passed away on December 19, 2023, in Saskatoon, SK.
Murray was born in Saskatoon on December 18, 1952, to parents Edward and Vivian Sims.
Murray was passionate about working on and collecting antique cars. He could often be found under the hood of a vehicle, especially his beloved 1955 Chevy. This includes his time as a stock car pit mechanic.
He loved hunting, fishing and the blues. He was always up for a game of cards or dice while listening to some good tunes.
During the holidays it was his tradition to listen to a wide variety of music. One of his usual favourites was Jimi Hendrix’s All Along the Watchtower. He would quote lyrics loudly for all to hear while drumming on the side of the table.
Murray came to rest one day after his 71st birthday following his battle with lung cancer.
It was his simple request to have no funeral service, in his words, no fuss. So we as a family ask those who wish to honour his memory, to remember him over a glass of wine or beer, crank up some Jimi or Dylan or go for a walk in the woods. Tell a joke or good story, remember him laughing, he would have liked that.
We would like to express our profound gratitude to all of the staff at Hospice at Glengarda for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers or cards the family requests donations be made to this amazing organization.
