ANNIE (Martens) BOLDT
May 16, 1929 – September 13, 2024
Age: 95 years
With deep sadness, we announce the passing our much-loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Annie Boldt, on September 13, 2024. Pre-deceased by her husband William (Bill), left to mourn their loss and cherish her memory are her children Arnold (Pat) and Naomi (Gordon); grandchildren Alyssa, Alyosha (Carla) and Nicolas; and step grandchildren David (Shannon), Sarah (Drew), Halsey (Mike) and Ethan and six great step grandchildren. Annie was pre-deceased by her parents Abram and Anna (Esau) Martens and her son Bruno.
One of two children, Annie was born in the village of Kleefeld, Molotchna, Ukraine on May 16, 1929. Separated from her mother and brother in 1945 (with whom she had fled the Ukraine in 1943), Annie made her way through Poland, West Germany and into Holland where she lived for 3 years, before arriving in Canada in 1948 as a refugee. She worked and attended bible school in Yarrow, BC prior to becoming an LPN at Vancouver General Hospital. In 1957 she met and married William (“Villy” she called him) and moved to Warman/Osler to farm and raise a family.
Mom loved to invite people into her home, to cook for them and listen to their varied and incredible life stories. We will miss this. Our lives have been greatly enriched to have known and interacted with Annie. We will miss your great kindness, generosity, warm smile, hugs and genuine interest in our lives.
A Viewing will be held from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Osler Mennonite Church, with Interment to follow. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Osler Mennonite Church, 212 2nd Avenue, Osler, SK.
