It is with heartfelt sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Darrell
Orval Davis–Son, Father, Life partner, Grandfather, Brother, Friend–
after his three year battle with cancer. Darrell enjoyed working on his
1953 Ford and 1957 Chevy, always giving his expert advice to anyone
who needed it. Darrell received his education in Tisdale, following
high school he worked various jobs around the Tisdale area. He
moved to Ontario to open a restaurant with his in-laws, later
returning to Saskatchewan to manage multiple Burger King
restaurants in Saskatoon. Before eventually making his way back to
the Tisdale area to be closer to his family. He was then employed at
the Beeland co-op as an assistant grocery manager. In 2004 he
began a career with Old Dutch, but eventually returned to the
Co-op as the Grocery Manager before retiring in 2021 due to his
health. Because of his love of cars, he started the ‘Doghide River Rods
and Relics Cars and Coffee Club’ where he created a space for a
community of car enthusiasts to gather and talk about their passion.
Thanks to Darrell, this coming year will mark the 6th Annual Doghide
River Rods and Relics Carshow. Each year drawing a larger crowd
from the last. Darrell had many things that made his life full. Aside
from tinkering on his automobiles, he loved making memories with
his grandkids each morning before school, relishing in the mystery of
Oak Island and all it’s secrets, Looking for top pocket finds and bobby
dazzlers with Jordan, creating custom tailgates through his side
business ‘Upcycled Automobilia”, loving and laughing with his best
friend and life partner Karen Curry, watching hockey and baseball
with his two sons, and most recently watching his grand kids play
soccer and hockey. Darrell had a passion and devotion to his love of
sports. He spent many evenings with Brad watching their
favourite team; the Edmonton Oilers. His other favourites included
the Toronto Blue Jays, Saskatchewan Roughriders or any team his
sons or grandchildren were apart of. He travelled all over the province
looking for tailgates and car parts, often bringing along Karen, his
mother Mabel, or anyone who was willing to go for a little drive.
