SCHATKOSKI – Carl passed away at home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born in Swift Current Union Hospital and for 18 years lived with his parents on their farm north of the city. After high school, he was employed by the City of Swift Current, first as a meter reader for two years, then for the Swift Current Fire Department until he retired in 1996. He held a number of positions with the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church council; the one he liked the best was the summer caretaker. He took great pride in keeping up the church property and keeping the lawn green. He enjoyed carpentry, softball, curling, bowling, and golf. He was involved with Saskatchewan Special Olympics in Swift Current for many years as a coach and mentor for their sporting events like bowling and track and field. He was predeceased by his wife Katherine, parents Olga and Rudolph Schatkoski, Alice (Ed) Hill, Mary (Larry) Collins and Jean Schatkoski; brothers Lawrence, Edward (Kresti), Donald, and Kenneth.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Swift Current, SK. The interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Canadian Special Olympics – soc.crowdchange.ca/53663/donate
