Obituary of Gladys Emily Kennedy
Born: July 16, 1947 at Tisdale, Sk. to George and Patricia Barnett
Passed Away Peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit on June 14, 2024
Leaving behind Husband Dennis Kennedy of 57 yrs, Daughter Raylene Kennedy (Lorin Briand), Son Douglas Kennedy (Mary Kennedy), Granddaughters Katlyn and Abigayle Kennedy, predeceased by Grandson Tyson Alexander Kennedy.
Gladys is survived by Sister Barbara Bourassa (Armand) and Brother Gordon Barnett (Patricia Barnett), predeceased by Sister In-law Bernice Barnett.
Gladys was raised on a small family farm near New Osgoode, SK where she attended school until Grade 8. She completed high school in Tisdale and moved to Saskatoon where she worked in the Vocation of Agriculture College as a Secretary for a few years before marrying Dennis Kennedy and moving to Leacross, SK to begin their own family farm operation.
During these years Gladys worked at the Ridgedale Co-op Grocery Store and helped Dennis farm and raise their two children.
In 1990, Dennis and Gladys seeded their last crop and moved to Saskatoon, SK where she quickly gained employment as a cashier at Safeway Grocery Store in Market Mall. She would work there for 18 years until retiring in 2008.
Gladys passed peacefully in the presence of her family and the loving staff at St. Paul’s Hospital on June 14, 2024.
