It is with profound sadness we bid farewell to our dear Garnet. Soulmate Nancy, son Kevin, daughter Chantal and granddaughter Annabelle, will hold wonderful memories in their hearts and reminisce stories for years to come.
Garnet is survived by brother Doug (Joann); chosen bothers Dan Prince and Mark Patrick; treasured mother-in-law Hazel Windsor (103), brother in laws, Dennis Windsor (Janice), Neil Windsor, sister in law Donna Simpson (Russ); his fond nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered by special friends who are like family; Allison; Diane; Lorna; Terry, Lori, William, Wesley; Jeanette, Derryk, and Melissa.
Garnet was predeceased by his parents, Dale and Margaret Moloney, sister Lois and brother-in-law Ben Voth, father-in-law Cliff Windsor, brother-in-law Larry Rekken.
Garnet was born at Manitou, Manitoba and raised on the Moloney Century family farm at Kaleida, Manitoba. He graduated from Nellie McClung Collegiate in 1972 and after harvest, hitch hiked to Winnipeg and secured a job in the Prototype shop at Versatile Manufacturing. After marrying his high-school sweetheart, Nancy Windsor, on October 26, 1974, they returned to the farm life they both loved.
Facing health issues for Garnet and difficult farm years, they moved to Saskatoon in April of 1981. Garnet worked for Voth Dryer Systems, selling and servicing grain dryers. He wrote his real estate exam the same day their son, Kevin, was born, March 22, 1983. Daughter Chantal, arrived August 11, 1984.
Garnet built a successful career as a Real Estate Agent and property manager, respected by his colleagues and clients.
He was a handy man, jack of all trades, who could fix most anything, renovating and flipping houses with the help of Nancy, Kevin and Chantal. Garnet loved to be outdoors in nature, hiking, fishing, logging trees, travelling, playing games, coffee visits on the deck and laughter. Family camping trips around Saskatchewan were a great time, rain or shine, fun was had and lots of memories made. Spending time with Nancy at Ambrose Trailer Park, Emma Lake, SK. was his favourite place to be the past 23 years. He loved hosting gatherings around the fire pit, visiting and watching Rider games on the outdoor TV.
Cardiac events over the past 25 years, did not deter Garnet. Even as they became quite serious in the last 3 years, he would fight back with determination, a will to live, and a smile on his face. His spirit to live life to the fullest every day, was an example for all who knew him. His happy, grateful attitude, humour and quick wit will be missed.
The family is grateful for the support received from the wonderful, compassionate staff at Casa Amigo’s Cantina, in Medicine Hat, at the time of Garnet’s sudden passing.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Paul’s United Church, New Hope Dog Rescue or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of his Life will be at 1:30 PM, Saturday, November 2, 2024
at St. Paul’s United Church, 454 Egbert Avenue, Saskatoon.
You are invited to wear a plaid shirt, dress casual. “I’m just a regular guy”.
A second service for Garnet will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 9, 2024
