The family of Audrey Hill is saddened to announce her passing on Sunday September 8, 2024, at the age of 96. Audrey was born on August 30, 1928 to Jim and Sarah Hall. She attended Haultain School and Nutana Collegiate. She worked for a short time at the Bessborough Hotel as a chambermaid, Saskatchewan Government Telephone Office as an operator, the Winnipeg Clinic and CN Medical Aid Society as a clerk typist. She met Roly Hill at a dance in Saskatoon and they married in August 1952 having two children Brenda and Dave. Audrey was a former member of Grace Westminster Church – Dr. Dix unit. She volunteered at many church functions. She was a member of the Board of the Saskatoon Horticultural Society for 14 years and was honored with a lifetime membership to the Society which she treasured. She worked in Federal and Provincial Elections for many years. Audrey was so proud to have lived in four houses on 6th Street and was known as the neighborhood matriarch on the street. Her summers were spent with family and neighbours at the family cottage at Emma Lake. She enjoyed taking daily strolls down Broadway to the bakery and grocery store. She had a passion for attending figure skating events. She enjoyed biking and cross county skiing. She loved gardening at home and at Emma Lake and always had a stash of chocolate chip cookies on hand for the grandchildren and visitors. Family was so important to Audrey and she cherished every visit and phone call she had from them. In March 2020 she moved into Stensrud Lodge where she enjoyed the residents, care aids, nurses and staff. She commented on their chocolate chip cookies and said they were okay. Audrey is survived by her daughter, Brenda Hill, son, Dave (Jackie) Hill, her grandchildren Jackson, Spencer and Vance. Her niece Andrea (Michael) Chute and her brother-in-law Ken Turnbull and sister-in law, Lou Hall, as well as, other nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her extended family John (Tracy) Brand, Geoff (Carolyn) Brand, Dave (Karen) Brand and their families and Banks Michell and his family. Audrey was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Roly Hill, her parents, Jim and Sarah Hall, her brother Bob Hall and her sister Betty Turnbull, sister-in-law, Kay Brown, niece, Kerry. Her cousins Thelma Porter, niece Debbie Mitchell (Porter) and Doreen Bran.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 Fourth Ave N, Saskatoon, SK.)
Donations in memory of Audrey may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Sask. (301 2550 12th St. Regina, SK S4P 3X1) or a charity of choice.
