Lloyd SEIBOLD Obituary
Lloyd Louie Seibold was born on December 2, 1926 on the family farm (SW ¼ 30-30-18 W3rd) to parents Louie and Laura Seibold. He went to Toft Hill School and started farming with his father at an early age. He worked at lumber camps at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and National Mills, Manitoba for a couple of winters. He helped with the Boys Scouts in Plenty and was secretary of the Sask Wheat Pool in Stranraer.
Lloyd married the love of his life, Dorothy Josephine Stratilo, (daughter of Alex and Annie Stratilo of Herschel, Sask.) on May 3, 1958 in Rosetown, Sask. They ran a mixed farm, grain and cattle for many years and lived on the farm southwest of Stranraer until moving to Rosetown just before Dorothy’s passing in 2020.
Dad’s farming career went from ploughing the land with a team of horses to being interested in seeing how the newest farming technology worked.
Dad and Mom went on various holidays including a cruise to the Panama Canal, Europe, Alaska and Hawaii. He and Mom also enjoyed driving around the countryside exploring various sites or simply looking for moose and other wildlife around the farm.
Dad had a passion for playing cards, especially cribbage, Play Nine, backgammon and various other card games. He enjoyed camping, fishing, skiing, golfing and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dad enjoyed telling jokes, visiting with everyone he met and at the age of almost 98 lived independently, still driving, getting his own groceries and mail. He loved recounting stories of days gone by and kept up with the news and what was going on in the world by looking up the news and weather on his computer. He liked cooking his own meals and mastered using the slow cooker and microwave, even giving us some cooking tips.
Lloyd was predeceased by wife Dorothy Seibold of 62 years, his parents Louie and Laura Seibold, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Alex and Annie Stratilo, his siblings Evelyn Whitson, Lena Larose, Laura Tricket, Herb Seibold, Dolores Kaul and granddaughter Britney Seibold.
Lloyd is survived by his four children Linda (Bob) Klassen, Richard (Claire) Seibold, Grant (Jodi) Seibold and Mark (Krista) Seibold, thirteen grandchildren; Stephanie (John) Dipple, Erin (Shane) Swan, Lindsay (Ryan) Klassen, Brad (Carma) Klassen, Carly Nunweiler, Jeff (Kelsey) Seibold, Kaitlyn Seibold, Megan (Mike) Heyhurst, Kelsy (Corey) Thompson, Logan Seibold, Brayden Seibold, Ethan Seibold and Quinten Seibold. He was blessed with twenty great grandchildren; Mckenna and Boston Dipple, Laiken and Grayson Swan, Rowen, Rhett and Crey Klassen, Mitchell, James, Andrea and Rebecca Nunweiler, Jaxson, Connor and Wade Seibold, Kacen, Payten and Haiden Heyhurst and Spencer, Brooke and Carter Thompson. He is also survived by sister-in-law Shirley (Stratilo) Fleischhaker and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stranraer Cemetery with Reverend Lauren Miller officiating (please bring a lawn chair) followed by a time of fellowship at the Stranraer Hall.
