Jean passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the age of 85 years.
Jean was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Christina Moore; siblings Les Moore, Harold Moore, Olive Letcher, Louise Bachelder; and grandchildren Tully and Baillie Stadnyk. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Keith Picketts; children Cindy (Darrell) Stadnyk, and Darryl Picketts (Louise Moreau); and grandson Dalton Stadnyk (girlfriend Morgan Schwickrath).
Jean was born in Saskatoon and was the fifth child of nine siblings, that grew up in the town of Asquith.
She met Keith at Asquith School in Grade 5 when her family moved to town from the farm. They were married in 1958 and started their life together in Saskatoon. A couple years later, their daughter Cindy was born (1960). Then a teaching position for Keith took them to Lac La Ronge. Their son, Darryl, was born in 1962. Their adventure took them back to Saskatoon for further university classes for Keith then on to Kipling, finally settling in Regina.
Jean had a great love of family and friends. Her and Keith travelled to many of the family or friend’s locations, exploring those areas along the way. Some of their favorite adventures included camping, which started with tenting and progressed to a travel trailer, and finally to a camper van.
She enjoyed family gatherings with her children, golfing with Keith and their grandson, Dalton, bowling, and a good card game with the neighborhood ladies.
Jean thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship shared by the many Gyro functions held here in Regina and across Western Canada.
Later in life, Jean became an avid fan of several sports and being called Grandma by the neighborhood kids, in several languages. Being an avid reader also, she shared that love with all of us and the neighborhood kids with a cookie thrown in.
Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with private family interment to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jean to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Saskatchewan, 1011 University Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7N 0K4, or to a charity of your choice.
