Loretta May Pirio, born on February 7, 1944, in Melville, SK peacefully passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, in Regina, SK. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend.
She was predeceased by her parents, Peter, and Christine Temple; and her first husband, Steven Schill.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Louis Pirio; children Garth and Jeanine (Russ); who in turn blessed her with grandchildren Adilynn, and Connor. She is also survived by Louis’s children Richard (Bev) their children, Casey, and Brett; Marc (Anita) their children, Clinton, and Madeline; Irene (Mike) their children, Colin, Jared, and Amanda; Lisa (Curtis) and their children, Tyson, and Taylor; as well as six great grandchildren.
She leaves behind her sisters, Audrey (Tony (deceased)); Sharon (John) their children Chris, and Stephanie; and her brother, Wayne. Loretta touched the lives of many other family members and friends.
Loretta and Steven were joined in matrimony on July 20th, 1968, and later in life, she found happiness once more when she married Louis Pirio on April 18th, 1998. They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
Following Steven’s unexpected passing in 1985, Loretta courageously raised her two children and often spoke of how her family’s support was her strength during difficult times. She cherished her family above all else. She always said, “If it weren’t for family, I would not have made it!”
Loretta had a passion for scrapbooking, but her true joy came from the companionship of those she held dear. She deeply valued her friendships, particularly the one she shared with Wanda.
Louis and Loretta enjoyed traveling together, embarking on memorable journeys to destinations like Hawaii, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, alone and with family and friends.
Loretta May Pirio will be remembered for her unwavering love for family, her warm and generous heart, and the enduring friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A special thanks to the health care providers that helped her find comfort, especially Dr. Belak, and the nurses and staff on 6F at the General Hospital and 3A at the Pasqua Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Loretta at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK.
