Bob passed peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at William Booth Grace Hospice at the age of 85 years.
Bob was predeceased by his father John “Jack” Guilo William Nixon; mother Mary Louisa Nixon; and wife Helen Elizabeth (nee Knapp). He is survived by his wife Lorraine Emma Weber (nee Brenner); children Keith (Shelley Ring), Cindy (Jim) Focht, Jack (Jody Guliov), Rob (Deborah Hoffarth), and Connie (Byron) Fuessel; grandchildren Allie Nixon, Cara Focht, Trevor Focht (Brittini Duesterbeck), Erica Focht (Evan Houston), Samantha Nixon, Adam Nixon, Devin Nixon, Chris Nixon (Manda Shevernoha), Shawn (Hanna Macomber) Nixon, Julia Nixon (Tyson Kainz), Lora Fuessel (Bailey Senft), Emily Fuessel and Danielle Fuessel.
He lived his entire life on his farm at NE-32-23-19-W2. Bob achieved his education at Snarum and Bryn Mawr Country Schools near his home. He enjoyed sports with friends especially Hockey and Softball and achieved his grade IX Piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music. He faithfully attended North Southey Zion Lutheran Church and then Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Southey.
Bob dabbled in many business ventures while farming including mixed farming, travelling the show circuit with pure bred Kenmuire Red Poll cattle and later raising Red Angus, Black Angus beef cattle, and Holstein cattle for an Industrial Dairy Operation. There were pigs, chickens, cats and dogs along the way. Branching off grain farming he ventured into trucking and hauling hay/straw bales, gravel and grain. He was very loyal to his Mack trucks and Bulldog Transport. Bob had an Entrepreneurial Spirit and was continuously looking for ways to fix, build or improve things, he was very handy with a welder.
Despite a busy farm life, he found time to play with boats (water skiing and fishing), snowmobiles and motorcycles. Above all, Bob always found time to play with his kids. Perhaps his greatest joy was the Nixon Family Band performing for Cabaret’s, Weddings and social events. He loved music, he loved people, and he loved performing.
Funeral Service will be held at Southey Emmanuel Lutheran Church, on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow. Interment to follow at the North Southey Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations may do so to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Southey.
