It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary after his sudden and courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Gary was the eldest child of Gladys and Royce Stinson. He grew up in Swift Current, where he met his wife, Darlene Brezinski, his one true love. Together for 55 years, they raised three children and shared a lifetime of trials and tribulations, love, joy and laughter (usually at his expense).
Gary dedicated much of his life to working on the pipeline. This allowed him to travel to Florida, Japan and throughout North America as a Quality Assurance Supervisor for the companies he worked for, completing his career at Evraz until his retirement in 2015. His career was marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence, but his greatest pride came from his family. He found immense joy in witnessing his children’s achievements and later in his grandchildren’s milestones.
Gary was known for his kindness, generosity, and loyalty to his family. Though he loved his work, his greatest joy was spending time with his family—whether it was working on his pristine lawn, sitting under his gazebo, or sharing simple moments with loved ones. He had a deep passion for fishing with his son, camping, painting, tinkering with vehicles, and was a true “jack of all trades.” His generosity was boundless; he would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene, and his children Kim (Paul) Hermanus, Gary (Marjolaine Perron) Stinson Jr., and Christine (Brad) Borschneck. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Ashley (Dylan), Kylie (Riley), Elodie and Gabriel. Gary is also survived by his mother Gladys Stinson, his sister Marilyn Giesbrecht, and his brothers Jim Stinson and Darcy (Monique) Stinson. He leaves behind many in-laws, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.
In lieu of flowers and cards, tributes may be directed to Pasqua Hospital Palliative Team 3A. Special thank you to all the nurses and Doctors who made such a difference in the care of him.
Gary’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of love, work ethic, and joy of family will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
