Elizabeth Zimmer, late of Balgonie, SK, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the age of 104, in Regina, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Bernhardt; her husband of 67 years, William “Bill” Zimmer; siblings, George, Jacob, Annie, Freda, John, and Madeline; son, Robert (Margaret); and daughter-in-law, Ruby. She is survived by her sisters, Margaret and Caroline; daughter, Caroline (Lawrence); sons, David and Rienold (Penny); nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was born September 10, 1919, in Killaly, SK, where she spent her early years and completed her schooling. She met and married William, then began farming in the Grayson District, later moving to Melville, where they owned and operated a BA Gas Station together. Eventually they settled down in the country north of Balgonie. Elizabeth was a great homemaker, who loved knitting, cooking, and gardening, sometimes having up to three gardens on the go, where never a weed would be found! Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on the fourth floor of Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home in Regina, where she received exceptional care in her final months.
Prayers will take place on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. , both at at Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 302 King Street, Balgonie, SK. Interment will take place, later in the Spring, at Saint Joseph’s Colony Cemetery, east of Balgonie.
