Raymond Webster Obituary
Ray was born on the farm 10 miles NW of St. Walburg on August 25th, 1931. He was the youngest of 4 children born to Bella and Oliver Webster. It turned out that he would spend a good portion of his life on the farm. Ray was a guy who could make anything work. In addition to farming, he worked on road construction and brushing crews in and around the St. Walburg and Lloydminster area. I think he was most happy clearing land with a D8 Caterpillar to open farming opportunities for himself and others.
He farmed for several years with his parents until they retired at which point he managed the farm with the help of his wife Shirley and his two kids Brent and Beverly. He believed in hard work and it was. He cleared more farmland so that there was no longer any need to go into the bush north of the farm for slough hay. Many days were spent burning brush piles, pulling stumps and picking rocks. Ray loved the raising of cattle and horses. When things of the farm were slow, he turned to construction work to supplement the family income.
He was married to Shirley for 64 years prior to her passing in 2022. She was the love of his life and he missed her dearly when she passed. When they decided to retire and sell the farm in 1996, they retired to Lloydminster where Ray enjoyed gardening and keeping the yard. Time was spent with family and friends. Many trips were taken to Turtle Lake where they shared time with Brent and his family. He also enjoyed seeing and experiencing the beautiful Peace River area near Fairview Alberta where Bev and her family were settled. In 2017 Ray and Shirley moved to Caleb Village in North Battleford where they enjoyed 5 years before moving to Harwood Manor in 2022.
Ray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was always willing to help neighbors, friends and especially family. Ray helped his children with countless projects, moves and setting up households.
Survived by his son, Brent (Brenda) Webster; daughter, Beverly (Harold) Milne; grandchildren: Andrew Webster, Marla (Scott) Rogers; Olivia (Chad) Koziak, Thomas (Acacia) Milne; great grandchildren: Summer and Simona Rogers; Sophia, Kayla and Madison Koziak; Brother, Jim Webster and Sister, Shirley Harper; Sisters in law: Phyllis Volk and Rose Schneider; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife, Shirley; parents: Bella and Oliver Webster and sibling, Phyllis Chapman.
